Inspirational Person: “Marguerite Annie Johnson, known to the world as Maya Angelou. Maya Angelou was a Poet, dancer, singer, activist, scholar, and a world-famous author. Maya Angelou applied to join the Women’s Army Corps however, her application was rejected because of her involvement in the California Labor School, which was said to have Communist ties. Maya Angelou devoted her life to being a tireless voice for women and black people. In 2010 she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barak Obama.”
Quotes by Maya Angelou: “This quote to me is about love and acceptance of all people...’While I know myself as a creation of God, I am also obligated to realize and remember that everyone else and everything else are also God’s creation.’...Another quote...’You are the sum total of everything you’ve ever seen, heard, eaten, smelled, been told, forgot – it’s all there. Everything influences each of us, and because of that I try to make sure that my experiences are positive’...to me it is about trying to surround yourself with positive people, positive energy and positive experiences”, says Chanel Lamb.
