Nearly 800,000 people die by suicide in the world each year; which is roughly a staggering one death every 40 seconds. There is one death by suicide in the US every 12 minutes and nearly 20 veteran suicides each day. It is time to take a stand with our families, our friends, and our veterans to identify the problem, lock arms with their struggles and stare down mental health disorders as a team. Suicide is fight that must be fought, that can be won and certainly worth the effort.
It takes community involvement, brain health awareness and intervention to assist our struggling brothers and sisters. If you or someone you know is in need, please contact the Veteran Crisis Line, any time at 1-800-273-8255. Select “1” for a Veterans Affairs staffer. This is also the same number used for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
