SMITHSONIAN CHANNEL SCREENINGS – VETERANS MONTH

Updated: Nov 19, 2018

This November, Smithsonian Channel partnered with CBS Veterans Network, as well as Charter, Comcast and Altice, on a series of Veterans Month screenings in select markets for veterans groups, government officials and local press. VIP screening events included a reception and opening remarks, followed by an insightful panel discussion with the filmmaker and historians - moderated in Dallas and DC by CBS News’ Matt Yurus. Programming screened included new documentary “Gun Trucks of Vietnam” and a recently premiered “The Lost Tapes” episode centered on the “Tet Offensive.” The tour kicked off Thursday, 11/1 at Dallas’ Frontiers of Flight Museum with further stops on Monday, 11/12 at DC's National Museum of American History and Wednesday, 11/14 at the Altice USA office in Bethpage, NY.

“For the past several years, we’ve partnered with affiliates to bring compelling programming about the African American experience to key markets across the country with our Black History Month screening tours,” said David Royle, EVP of Programming for Smithsonian Channel. “This November, we are proud to expand this tradition with our first Veterans Month tour. Smithsonian Channel has a storied tradition of first-class military history programming, and this year we hope to honor those who have served with a unique and insightful look at a defining moment in the Vietnam War, as well as honor unsung heroes who demonstrated astonishing resourcefulness on convoy duty during the conflict.”
