Today is a very special day: Gold Star Mother’s and Family’s Day.

In May, 1918 President Woodrow Wilson approved the Gold Star as a symbol of losing military family in the line of duty on the suggestion of the Council of National Defense.

A decade later, American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. was founded by Grace Darling Seibold whose son, George Vaughn Seibold, joined the Canadian Military in 1918, since the US didn't yet have an Air Force or the planes he wanted to fly, in support of the WWI war effort. A decade after his tragic death, Grace and twenty-four other mothers met in Washington DC on June 4th 1928 to establish American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. Today, the group has grown to over 900 mothers, who we are privileged to thank along with the other loving family members of our fallen heroes.

A heartfelt “Thank You” to our Gold Star Mothers and Families. It is by their love, nurturing, and encouragement that we have come to know our Nation’s greatest heroes.
