During the week of the July 4th holiday, ViacomCBS Veterans Network members and CBS local stations employees, wore Red, White & Blue in the spirit of the independence holiday as well as fundraised over $1,000. Many who participated in the initiative, even shared images on different social media platforms using the hashtag #ViacomCBSVetNetGoesRWB.
The fundraising initiative benefited, GI Go Fund, a nonprofit charitable organization that assists veterans, active-duty personnel, their family members, veteran supporters, and all members of the military community with finding employment, connecting to their benefits and accessing housing opportunities.
More specifically, the Red, White and Blue fundraising initiative benefited Ironbound Boxing, one of the small businesses and Incubators of GI Go Fund’s Veteran Training Center and Incubator Space in Newark, New Jersey. The center provides military veterans and their family members with employment training from corporate leaders, as well as shared office space for veteran-owned small businesses.
Founded by Mike Steadman, a veteran (US Marine Corps) business owner, Ironbound Boxing’s goal is to use the transformative powers of boxing to create champions both inside and outside of the ring, bringing positive changes to economically- challenged communities and building stronger and more focused corporate teams.
“Thank you so much for all of your support! I am eternally grateful for the swift work that went into RWB day. In less than one week, we fundraised a significant amount to help support our incubator programs and we are so appreciative. We look forward to working with the Vet Net team, in the future, to continue to support and impact the veteran and military community”, Jack Fanous, GI Go Fund CEO
